Arc Springs

Arc springs (also bow springs or curved springs) are arc-shaped compression springs to absorb torque.

  • Largest torsion angle
  • Small cross-section
  • Easy to assemble

Arc springs often have an inner spring and an outer spring. If their lengths are the same, they can absorb larger torque than a single arc spring. If the lengths of inner and outer spring differ, two stage spring characteristics can be realized. For applications under centrifugal force, the shorter inner spring has to be fixed in a suitable way to avoid unintentional unbalance.
